FED Up

At a basic level the idea of a central bank and clearinghouse for the United States of America makes sense. It seems apparent that big banks, medium-sized banks and small banks will from time to time need a ready supply of cash to offset short-term or momentary needs. Just as many retailers rely on wholesalers to stock and supply their products, a bank accepts deposits and loans money at a profitable rate of interest. Their cash reserves rarely equal their deposit totals, so they may find themselves short of cash even with an outstanding portfolio of performing loans. It should be apparent, however, that the Federal Reserve Bank has abused its charter and its purpose. It has become a tool of the government and global banking interests.

The elementary problem with the FED as it has been designed is that Congress has subordinated its constitutional responsibility for the coining (printing) and valuing our money to a consortium of private bankers. Odd isn’t it that despite all the overreaching by government into the private sector, it is a constitutionally mandated role or obligation that Congress chose to privatize? Why banking? Why money? The entire FED revolves around debt. As money is loaned out by individual banks, they go to the FED to restore their reserves. The FED must print the money and LOAN it to the banks. Without debt the FED would not have a real function other than the constitutional coinage one that Congress gave to it. So the bottom line is that the powers for printing money and creating debt reside with a cabal of private mega-bankers. Cheery thought, huh? You might ask “how do they create debt?” When a bank seeks additional funds for loaning, the FED creates it digitally. In other words if the local banks didn’t have the funds for additional lending, borrowers would have to go elsewhere for funds but the money supply would be more stable.

The unceasing printing (digitizing) of money expands our indebtedness and our money supply…thus generating de facto inflation. Without a corresponding surge in production of goods and services every dollar created increases the number of dollars ‘chasing” a finite supply of products or labor. More dollars chasing fewer things means higher costs. Increasing debt and inflated/lower-valued money are not recipes for a prosperous nation. In the short-term inflation may lull the unsuspecting into assuming that prosperity is flourishing, but will have the opposite effect after a time as goods and property become more difficult to purchase because of escalated prices and higher interest rates.

The FED because it is private uses the resources and wealth of the United States as its own “net worth” as it props up other national currencies and governments. The value of the dollar is directly related to the productivity of the United States, the number of dollars in circulation and the confidence that the indebtedness will be repaid. If any of those three factors experience some slippage, the corresponding effect will negatively impact the U. S. economy. If any of the three major factors underperforms, the government must collect additional revenue to maintain some level of equilibrium to avoid massive runaway inflation, excessive interest costs or severe reductions in productivity. Thus, the FED with full compliance from the government through its policies practically insures higher levels of taxation for American taxpayers. Taxes collected through force are theft. Taxes that stifle economies and intrude on individual freedom are tyrannical. Because of its power over our productivity, our indebtedness and our money supply, the FED, in effect, controls our economy. Our government increasingly controls our lives, and the Federal Reserve manipulates our livelihoods.

It should be dawning on you that as debt problems increase, taxes go up. When interest rates begin to ratchet upward due to inflated money driving the cost of borrowing higher, the governments’ needs for debt service will grow astronomically, the resultant tax increases will stifle the economy and higher taxes plus lower economic productivity joined with massive debt leads to catastrophe. It is an inescapable cycle that can at the best be postponed for a while but becomes worse during the delay. In their efforts to manipulate the market, the currency and debt, the FED will create economic bubbles that will enlarge and eventually burst. As the FED scheme and rig the system, shrewd investors will seek other avenues for avoiding the FED action….thus the bubbles will be created.

Compounding the problem of the FED’s unhealthy and unconstitutional control of the basics of our fiscal and economic systems is the fact that they operate with impunity. We the people have no standing to audit the Federal Reserve or to insist on transparent accountability. In 1913 Congress handed the keys and the car to the Wall Street manipulators and self-serving big bankers. Now Congress lacks the courage to reclaim its constitutional duty yet continues to meddle in a plethora of other unconstitutional arenas. We are now on the precipice of economic collapse. Although the nation and its people will suffer, you can wager your home and all your worldly goods that the Fed governors, their favored bankers and career politicians will emerge unscathed. Obviously….I’m FED Up.

Sluts and Nuts

Sandra Fluke is a slut. A 30-year old woman who is studying law at one of the nation’s premier law schools should not ask blue-collar hard-working people to pay for birth control products that would allow her uncontrolled libido to screw the American taxpayers and premium payers. She is a slut because she is willing to exchange her dignity, her self-respect and her reasoning ability for 15 minutes of fame and unrestricted sexual activity. That represents a barter…a type of exchange wherein each party supposedly receives something of value to offset the loss of the assumed value of the object being traded. Just as “will screw for food” would be considered prostitution in most cities (generally controlled by progressive Democrats), as well as “will trade privacy, dignity and principles for sex.” She sold her soul for a big-government looter’s agenda. Rush Limbaugh was correct. When one expects “someone” to pay for one’s nymphomania, one is being paid to have unlimited sexual activity. With generic birth control pills selling for $9.00 per month at Wal-Mart, that leaves approximately $892.00 per year for condoms and other additional “protections” based on Ms. Fluke’s $1000.00 per year estimated cost for her or others’ profligacy.

Rush Limbaugh and his little butt-kissing buddies, Hannity and Levin, are also sluts. While Limbaugh attempts to use the absurd to illustrate the absurdity of Ms. Fluke’s demand, he fails to recognize the inconsistencies of his own positions. He and his cohorts claim the mantle of constitutionalism, but nevertheless do not hold Congress and the Administration accountable for some of their more egregious constitutional abuses….because those unconstitutional acts coincide with the subjective world-views of Limbaugh, Hannity and Levin. Whores and sluts sell their bodies either for pleasure or because of hard-core commercial purposes. Limbaugh and his little band of merry men sell out their constitutional principles either for their own self-serving purposes or to curry favor with their audiences and their supreme government masters. Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution of the United States clearly identifies that Congress has the authority (and the obligation after careful and thoughtful consideration) to declare war. Yet, since December 8th, 1941 Congress has NOT declared war even though we have been engaged in three decade-long conflicts plus the Korean “police action” in the interim. Why has the triumvirate of conservative talk radio cavalierly ignored this constitutional proviso? Perhaps….it doesn’t fit into their preferences for the unbridled exercise of government power, so they ignore the requirement/mandate. They are sluts and whores because despite their professed love for the Founders, the Framers and our constitutional republic, they willingly sell their souls, their integrity and their principles to unconstitutional activity. Progressives and conservatives, liberals and moderates have all chosen to selectively support the Constitution. All of…..or rather too many of them view the Constitution of the United States as a buffet of privilege for themselves and of limitations for their opponents. No wonder we are in the pit we are in when the supporters of our primary document distort it beyond recognition.

Most of the mass media are sluts. I know….that’s redundant. Screwing the nation, the regular folks and constitutionalists is the number one activity for most media types. It is not too difficult to assume that the excessive carnal efforts by the media have resulted in debilitating STDs. Their diminished mental capacities would suggest that the spirochete bacterium of syphilis had occupied and destroyed their cognitive abilities. Their observations and reporting are primarily agenda-driven, and for the most part their agendas do NOT coincide with most citizens or with the Constitution. The members of the media can be excused at some level for their shortcomings because of their limited mental acuity. Reading and understanding the Constitution probably requires an eighth grade proficiency which is far beyond the capacity of many who chose to follow journalistic endeavors.

Obviously, the career politicians who unceasingly abuse our rights and ignore our Constitution are the “Sultans of Slut-dom.” They take oaths of office following their elections and proceed to systematically violate them at every turn. Not only are many of our political class… whores, they are cheap whores. They routinely sell out for campaign funds from their favored interest group or for ground troops for their re-election campaigns. They consistently pass new legislation to “clean up” the process but simultaneously open new loopholes and crevices for circumventing the law. They sell out and roll over at the mere glimpse of a dollar or a favor. Their favorite pastimes are screwing the constituency, screwing the nation and violating their sacred trusts. They are whores, sluts and hookers of the highest order. They are committed to their assumed profession and ignorant of their public obligation.

The title of this column is “Sluts and Nuts.” This is a term that most large-scale political campaigns know. There is an element of society that “hangs around” the campaign seeking opportunities for engaging the candidate or upper staff in questionable activity. Some politicians appreciate their presence but fear their disclosures. Others tremble when the sluts and nuts are nearby, but they are a common element of our political life. In light of my previous ranting about the “sluts” in our political structure, allow me to posit that we, the voters and citizens, are the nuts. We are nuts because we allow the sluts to do what they do to us, our Constitution and our republic.

Note to Ms. Fluke: If you’re playing the game and seek the fame, don’t complain about the name.

Righteousness and Piety

A righteous person or cause is morally upright, virtuous and wholly justifiable. A pious person or cause is dedicated to duty. Certainly some element of piety is desirable among our people, our clerics and our political leaders. There should be a strong commitment to duty among them, but if they do not seek righteous goals, their piety is squandered on unworthy goals. Shifting from the theological to the political context, we can observe that pious politicians are dedicated to their visions or their views of what our societal goals should be whereas the righteous among them yearn for an honest virtuous nation that rewards individual initiative. The problem is that too many of our political elites trumpet their piety but ignore the righteous pursuits. False piety is a sin. We are all familiar with the Sadducees and Pharisees who visibly seemed pious but may have lacked righteous hearts.

The parallels between our political elites and the ecclesiastical class are eerie. The politicians say the right things time and again. They pledge their undying devotion to personal liberty and constitutional government. They are piously devoted to saying what they believe the people view as righteous sentiment. False piety, void of righteousness leads to hollow shells of politicians…no cores, no serious convictions, no center of true public service. They mouth the platitudes and simultaneously push our buttons as they attempt to lure us with their piety and devotion to principle. The pious ones always know what to say and how to behave when the people are watching them. It’s under the cover of darkness and behind the marble walls that their true unrighteousness becomes apparent. They worship themselves and government. Just as the priestly class has been called to serve but succumbs to the glamour and trappings of privilege so too has the political class been summoned to serve as leaders for our Republic but nevertheless fall under the spell of power and advantage.

Priests who are pious but unrighteous are treated deferentially by the worshipers who respect their positions. For the most part the people are unaware of the carnal nature of the clerics’ personalities. The priestly piety fools the parishioners for a time. Eventually, however, the trappings of grandeur and the vestments of self-interest become apparent and the credibility and character of the pious priest are exposed as shams. Politicians who hold office are treated as infallible wizards who understand the mysteries of the governing process….who can fathom the incomprehensible depths of complex legislation….who seemingly have their fingers on the pulse of government. We ultimately discover, however, that their wizardry is deficient, their knowledge is lacking and their fingers are often misplaced. They are fallible, but nevertheless continue to impress us with their government-induced piety.

The trappings of piety are often impressive. The priest or the politician fits the mold of the true believer as if they were selected by central casting. As many of us have learned, first impressions are sometimes deceiving. Through experience we may have discovered that airs and appearances do not fully expose the character of a person.

He who walks righteously and speaks what is right, who rejects gain from extortion and keeps his hands from accepting bribes, who stops his ears against plots of murder and shuts his eyes against contemplating evil--- this is the man who will dwell on the heights…
Isaiah 33: 15-16 (NIV).

When we encounter a righteous cleric or politician, our amazement is merged with fear and awe. Someone whose life is reflection of his beliefs and his faith often intimidates us (See Tim Tebow). We envy his passion, his courage and his self-certainty. We may even be afraid of someone whose passion, integrity and righteousness makes us feel inadequate. The person whose principles are non-negotiable earns our respect, but sometimes they become targets of derision. In the church such a person is branded as a zealot. In the vineyards of politics she or he is described as an extremist. The True Believer will never yield, never compromise. The righteous believer marches on through the catcalls and the name calling and never flinches. The righteous person is at peace with herself or himself, and doesn’t cut deals or corners to reach an objective.

The time has come for our people to identify and reject the false trappings of piety. If we are to save our Republic, we must select leaders who have a passion for our Constitution and our liberty. We must choose an extremist who is extremely committed to freedom.

Gimmicks and Tricks

Sleight of hand is commonplace in the halls of government power. Our superior elites continuously dazzle us with their “now you see it, now you don’t” routine of promises and broken vows. The pathways of United States’ history is littered with the shards of broken trust as our political masters pledge to be responsible….and fail, fail again and again. The most glaring recent example is the so-called “Super Committee.” I’ve witnessed more integrity and intelligence tumbling out of the clown car at the circus than I’ve observed from this bunch of worn out hacks. Yet, Boehner, Reid, McConnell and Pelosi smilingly go through the motions, precisely following their scripts, alternately sharing their fears and their hopes about the ultimate package for preserving our republic for another day…..just one day. Why one day? Because they are so weak-kneed they cannot kick the can any further down the road.

Perhaps I should not be so cynical because they have given me another twenty-four hours to prepare for our national and the global economic meltdown. Yes, I should be thankful for small favors. It is difficult, however because the people who are now offering me band aids for our nation’s fiscal woes, are the identical folks who severed our limbs of prosperity and liberty. In those rare instances where they were not directly responsible for our ills, they were droolingly complicit and compliant. I am fed up with gimmicks and tricks. I am sick of lying clueless politicians who seek to enrich themselves at my expense. I am tired of career politicians who “speak the speak” and say nothing. I am nauseated by slick political operatives who are continually trying to fool me. I am radically pissed by bureaucrats who sit in their cubicles and make life-altering choices for me. I am furious with all the single-digit I.Q. clowns who believe they know what’s best for me.

The elegant simplicity of the Declaration of Independence and The Constitution of the United States of America has been dragged through a cesspool of avarice and incompetence by a political and bureaucratic class that has no class…no common sense…no true compassion…no integrity…no honor…no principles…and no self-discipline. They have taken the second greatest guide for enlightened self government in human history and transformed it into a meaningless relic. They have stolen our treasure, our time and our dreams. They have grabbed our liberty and traded it for their egomaniacal power trips. They are not satisfied. They continue to assault our freedom and tax us into poverty. They consistently pass huge incomprehensible pieces of legislation that overwhelm our businesses, our citizens and our futures. If our political class and their bureaucratic henchmen were living under strict Sharia law, their hands would be severed from their lying thieving bodies. If they were living under early U.S. frontier justice, their twitching bodies would be dangling from a massive oak tree. If they were living in Revolutionary times, they would be hauling tail to Canada or back to England. So why do WE tolerate them?

So far you’ve probably concluded that I’m angry with politicians and bureaucrats. My seething does not stop with them. I am outraged by a soft, weak, dependent American populace that has NO sense of self-reliance. Sometimes I suspect that Gumby’s DNA has infiltrated our national gene pool. No spines, no bones of integrity and no firm understanding about the mess we are facing. Even people who pride themselves on their knowledge of and devotion to the Constitution vote for and support the Boehners and the McConnells because……”they’re not as bad as Democrats.” Scarlet fever isn’t as bad as typhoid, but neither one fits into my cavalcade of hits. No, both parties are guilty of writing and passing omnibus bills that are loaded with hand grenades and turds to foul the lives our citizens. Both parties have shared power and collusion for 150 years as they have led us or driven us down the path toward tyranny and away from our constitutional liberties. Both parties have protected and elected perverts, thieves, liars, adulterers and egotistical megalomaniacs. We have witnessed a massive bipartisan screwing, and we are either too weak or too cowardly to challenge the status quo. Perhaps we are too ignorant or too stupid to understand that liberty is a gift from God and must be preserved and protected….even when it’s our “friends” who are wresting it from us.

Sadly, I’m beginning to suspect that we have gone beyond the point of “no return.” I shall continue to scream, plead and goad my fellows into action and counter-action, but I intend to implement some personal remedies for the chaos that I see. From this point forward I declare our small acreage, The Little Pat-Ch of Paradise, as a sovereign state…seceding from all other political jurisdictions that claim dominance over our property. We shall henceforth be known as the nation of Patch on the continent of Paradise. If you drive past our new little nation and witness a cluster of jackbooted S.W.A.T. officers assaulting our place, take joy in the fact that the empire-building nation has once again taken on a weak little country. If history is a guide, we can hold out for ten years and collect billions in aid. Sounds like a plan.

Balanced but not Equal

Until recent times every American student has learned the axiom of United States’ constitutional government that our 3-headed federal construct is limited by checks and balances built into the system. The three branches—executive, legislative and judicial—exercise certain powers and oversights that in theory offset one another. Many people err, however, when they consider the branches equal. They are not. For example the shoe and the foot are both larger than the pebble, but the tiny stone in the boot can make walking an uncomfortable undertaking. Two entities do not have to be equal in order for one to judiciously restrict the other. The three federal branches have different functions, constitutional powers, and responsibilities. They are not equal. One of the great distortions of the Twentieth Century was the emergence of the courts as power players in the national arena. Their portfolio for cases brought before them is to determine if matters of law were applied correctly so that plaintiffs and defendants could rely on a just system.

My description of the legal system will not be found in Black’s or Blackstone. It is simply my interpretation of The Constitution of the United States of America and its recognition of the necessity for a system of courts to oversee disputes between citizens and confrontations between citizens and governments. This piece is a perception rather than a précis. In my view there appear to be three primary determinants for identifying the relative power of a branch of government: the constituency, its role, available remedies for enforcing its actions. For example, the President is the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and the Secretary of Defense is a cabinet level position in the Executive Branch. The people and the various electors choose the President who appoints the Secretary of Defense…subject to Senate confirmation. The House of Representatives is responsible for funding the military, but is not constrained by the desires of the President or his SecDef. In essence, the President has, subject to the War Powers Act and posse comitatus limitations, the entire military apparatus plus various federal agencies with police power to enforce the law. The Congress does hold the “power of the purse,” and the Courts have the force of decree but must rely on voluntary compliance because the courts have no police or military power.

Historically, in my view, there have been two great shifts in the balance of power among the three branches. The 1803 case, Marbury vs. Madison, established the notion of judicial review and the Supreme Court’s authority for determining the constitutionality of legislation and executive actions. Prior to this ruling the Court was viewed as a mere dispute-resolution mechanism. The other action that I believe transformed the balance of power was the ratification of the Seventeenth Amendment which altered the method for selecting U.S. senators from being appointed by their respective state legislatures to direct popular vote by the citizens of each state. The former constituents for senators were THE STATES. The amendment changed their obligations and loyalties to a more populism-oriented constituency. Surely there are additional developments that have altered the delicate balance envisioned by the Framers, but I suspect these two would make the “Power Shifting Hall of Fame.”

Even now with the additional power for the Supreme Court and the alteration of the senators’ fidelity, I believe the House of Representatives remains as the most powerful portion of the federal government … if the country follows constitutional law. Controlling the financial elements for most of the federal government should give the House extraordinary leverage for determining the policies and direction of the nation. As the direct representatives of the people, the House can protect the peoples’ interests from encroachment by the other branches and the bureaucracy. Clearly the House has failed in a number of ways. The House of Representatives with agreement by the Senate has ignored or abrogated some of its constitutional duties by transferring them to other governmental or private sector entities thus minimizing its oversight capabilities. The House has ignored its fiscal responsibilities by over spending and through massive borrowing to fund unconstitutional programs, departments, agencies and bureaus.

We have had inter-branch faceoffs in the past as one branch or another sought to increase its power or to preserve its niche. Some have been ugly, and others were subtle, but the bottom line is that the 3 branches of our federal government are NOT equal. If our federal government were operating in a constitutionally pure manner, the House would be the most powerful entity in the federal government because of its fiscal control. It’s true that the Congress cannot lower the pay of the sitting federal judges, but they can abolish and/or create federal circuits and judgeships at will. This, in effect, allows the Congress to rein in a runaway judiciary. Congress can refuse to fund various and sundry executive branch department, and thus, render them useless. Some people fear the power of the purse that is given to the “Peoples’ House,” but a dispute or confrontation between branches of government is to be preferred to all of them vigorously defending the government’s interests…..as they do now. We need balance. We do not need equality among the branches. In fact we need balance and counterbalance.
